Raid Conducted In Margherita, 1 Arrested

MARGHERITA, May 8: A man was arrested and illegal liquor seized during raids conducted in various places in Tinsukia district.

A team of officials of the state excise department in collaboration with the police conducted a raid on Tuesday night at Borbil, Begenabari, Lakhipathar, Bargolai, Lalgola, Namdang, Hamukjaan and Ledo in Tinsukia district.

The excise team seized and destroyed articles including 60 litres illegal liquor, 2,700 litres of fermented wash 2700 litres, four sets of Da and 12 litres of beer meant for sale in Arunachal Pradesh only.

During the raid the police apprehended a person and registered a case against him under section 53(1)(a) of AE Act 2000 as amended.
