SIVASAGAR, Dec 2: On Monday, E-Media Association, Sivasagar, and Rural Reporters Forum took out a procession against the alleged attack on a digital media person and his cameraman by illegal pig traders on Amguri Janjhi Highway 61. The news media personnel have long been exposing the illegal pig traders’ racket that has been transporting pigs from Punjab and Kanpur to Amguri, Halowating, and neighbouring Nagaland despite a ban on pig transportation due to an outbreak of swine fever. While the locals seized a pig-laden truck, the contractors threatened the reporters. The reporters demanded action against the illegal pig traders.

Supporting the reporters’ protest, Raijor Dal activist Ritumoni Hazarika blamed the police for protecting the illegal trade of pigs and cattle in Sivasagar district.
