KOKRAJHAR, Jan 10: In view of the forthcoming Republic Day celebration, a meeting was held recently under the chairmanship of Varnali Deka, Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar at the conference hall of the election office regarding the celebration of Republic Day.
Extending her New Year greetings to all the members present, Deputy Commissioner Deka said that this year too, the Republic Day would be celebrated in the district in a befitting manner with various programmes and activities like distribution of awards and certificates, felicitations, display of tableau by various departments, display of band, children’s sports, friendly cricket match between DC’s-XI and BTC’s-XI along with the usual programmes – ‘prabhat pherry’, playing of patriotic songs, hoisting of the National Flag at individual residential buildings, business establishments, government offices, offering floral tributes at ‘Swahid Bedi’ and hoisting of the National Flag centrally at Kokrajhar Government HS and MP school field.

During the meeting, the DC entrusted various departments with responsibilities to ensure the preparation as well as the smooth conduct of the programme.
She urged the heads of all departments to ensure that the National Flag is hoisted with utmost care and proper manner in their office premises and in the subordinate offices, schools, institutions etc. Likewise in the case of lowering of flag due protocol to be followed and due respect accorded.
The meeting also decided to organise online competition on the topics such as Selfie with Tiranga, Patriotic Slogan, Patriotic songs, etc.
At the end of the meeting, Chairman Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka requested for the enthusiastic participation of all concerned.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Rajiv Kumar Das, Wadiul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioners, Circle Officers, district heads of departments, heads of educational institutions, representatives of social organizations and leading citizens.
