DEMOW, July 11: A rhinoceros straying into human habitation triggered panic among residents of Bhimpuwa Bhagyapur under the Demow Forest Beat Office on Friday morning.
The animal was first spotted roaming in the gardens of local households, alarming villagers in the area.
According to information received, the rhino was seen moving through private properties, causing residents to flee in fear.
In the chaos, a woman reportedly fell while running and sustained a minor injury after the rhino struck her hand.
The animal also charged at a Super Splendour motorcycle, damaging its front portion.
Local residents immediately informed the Demow Forest Beat Office, following which forest officials and personnel from the Nitaipukhuri Police Station rushed to the spot.
The joint team arrived at around 5 AM and began guarding the area to ensure public safety.
A forest official stated that the rhino was initially sighted near the backside of Bhimpuwa High School and that residents were advised not to approach the animal.
Forest authorities have yet to determine whether the rhino is male or female.
According to sources, the same rhino has reportedly been roaming the surrounding areas for the past few months.
As of the filing of this report, the animal was last seen in the Nabil area, a forest official confirmed.
