DIPHU, Jan 5: Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong and its adjoining districts in the state of Assam celebrated Rongker on the occasion of traditional Karbi New Year. However, there is no fixed date for celebrating Rongker by the Karbi tribe. Each Karbi village observes the same on a date convenient for the villagers.

On Rongker the Karbis who are still safeguarding and following the indigenous faith perform Rongker – a sacrificial worship to deities Hemphu, Mukrang and Goddess Rasinja to seek their blessing for protection from evil and good health the year round.
