RPF, NFR apprehended 23 illegal migrants during last month

GUWAHATI, DEC 8: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway apprehended 23

Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala, Jirania and Dharmanagar railway stations in different drives conducted during November (1-30), 2024, an official statement said on Sunday.  

Moreover, RPF has rescued 56 minors and 4 women from different stations over N F Railway during this period.

In a recent incident of November 27, 2024, the RPF team of Katihar conducted checks at Katihar railway station. During the check, they rescued one runaway minor boy from Katihar railway station.

Later, after ascertaining the address of the minor boy, the rescued minor boy was handed over to Child Line, Katihar for safe custody.

In another incident on November 21, 2024, the RPF team of Dharmanagar and the BSF/97BN/Shipinjuri team jointly conducted a routine check at Dharmanagar railway station. While checking, they detected four Bangladeshi nationals.

On interrogation, they could not produce any valid documents and later confessed that they entered India illegally. Later, all four were apprehended and handed over to BSF/97 BN/Shipinjuri for further legal action.

RPF staff deployed at stations and trains are always vigilant towards illegal infiltration from border areas. RPF keeps up a steady routine check at railway stations and trains to prevent it.

RPF carries on a relentless fight against criminals in protecting railway passengers and remains vigilant for suspected persons involved in human trafficking as well as the movement of children in a suspicious manner, travelling alone, without proper guardian etc.
