SIVASAGAR, Nov 14: Launching the centrally sponsored SAANS (Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) programme on the World Pneumonia Day on Saturday in Sivasagar district, joint director of Health, Sivasagar, Dr Bhupendra Kumar Das said, “Pneumonia is a killer disease for children below 5 years and hence it is of utmost importance to know its causes and symptoms.”
Dr Das lit the ceremonial lamp before delivering the speech in the meeting held on the occasion in Khemka Matri Sadan. It was attended by a large number of doctors, paramedics, nurses, Asha workers, mothers and the health workers of the Wood Primary Health Centre, Doulmukh Chariali.
Supervisor Anjoli Phukan urged the mothers to be extremely careful while testing their babies under severe fever and cold and report in the nearest health centre before it gets late.
