GUWAHATI, Feb 7: Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the new office of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), the apex regulatory body of the country for traditional medicines in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The new office is housed in the ‘Padmabhushan Vaidya Devendra Triguna Sadan’ within the Mahasammelan complex.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sonowal said the India is moving ahead confidently as its rich heritage in traditional medicine powers the country to become a healthy and happy nation, as it strives towards realising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a Swastha Bharat.
“With this capacity expansion of a new building within the Mahasammelan complex, the Ayush system will get a further boost as it transforms into a full chakra of education, research, regulation and policy making in the traditional medicine of Bharat,” he added.
He also informed that the government is developing Mahasammelan complex at an international standard.
“The role of NCISM is of paramount importance as we move ahead to bolster the prospect of traditional Indian medicines to keep pace with the modern medicine for an integrated healthcare patient care solution approach for a healthier and happier nation. As per the vision of our leader, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, India is poised to make tremendous strides in the growth of traditional medicine in the Amrit Kaal. We are confident that Ayush system is going to be a major force with a wide array of healthcare solutions, based on empirical evidence & scientifically proved formulations, towards the vision of a Swastha Bharat,” he said.
Besides the office of NCISM, the complex already has other major offices like Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV).
The event was graced by the Union minister of State for Women & Child Health and Ayush, Dr Mahendrabhai Kalubhai Munjapara; the secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha; the chairman, All India Ayurveda Mahasammelan Trust, Padmbhushan Vaidya Devendra Triguna; the chairman, National Commission for Indian Systems of Medicine (NCISM), Vaidya Jayant Dev Pujari; the chairman, Ethics and Registration Board, NCISM, Vaidya Rakesh Sharma; and the advisor, Ayurveda, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, Vaidya Manoj Nesri among others.
The new building has four floors apart from basement, stilt parking, ground floor with 13500 sqft plus 3 floors. The foundation of this building was laid by Sonowal in February, 2022, and this was completed within less than two years.
