Seminar, book launch held in Morigaon

MORIGAON, May 1: A seminar and a book inauguration programme in conjunction with the golden jubilee celebration was held under the initiative of the Morigaon Aideu Handique Sakha Lekhika Sangstha at the meeting hall of the District Journalist Association on Friday.

Morigaon District Commissioner Anamika Tewari inaugurated the programme in the presence of distinguished guests and attendees. Earlier, members of the premier literary organisation offered floral tributes at the portrait of Zubeen Garg and performed his popular song “Mayabini.”

The president of the literary organisation, Rina Rani Saikia, presided over the seminar. The General Secretary of the All Assam College Teachers’ Association, Paragjyoti Mahanta, attended the seminar as the resource person on the topic “Proper Pronunciation of Assamese Language in the Domestic Atmosphere in the Present Situation.”

Speaking at the programme, he said that it is very important for every Assamese to speak and pronounce the language correctly in order to preserve its uniqueness. In this regard, he emphasised that parents should teach their children the correct pronunciation of vowels and consonants from an early age. If parents pronounce the language correctly at home, their children will imitate it.

The event was moderated by Anita Pathak, Secretary of Aideu Handique Sakha Lekhika Sangstha. Senior journalist Janardan Sharma and several other dignitaries also delivered speeches.

Ristina Priya Sharma, Nimisha Nath and Nandita Kashyap performed a “Dashavatar” dance during the programme.
