TEZPUR, Jan 4: Senior journalist and social worker from Tezpur, Pankaj Baruah, executive president of the Sonitpur Press Club, was conferred the “Social Journalism Award–2025” by the Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti during its Golden Jubilee celebrations and 30th biennial conference at Koliabor.
The award was presented during the first open session on the third day of the four-day event, which began on January 2 at the Padma Shri Dr Sheela Borthakur Memorial Field at Kuwaritol, Gandhi Playground. The grand programme saw the participation of several thousand members, office-bearers and delegates from Assam as well as from other parts of India and abroad.
The session was presided over by Subarna Saikia Bordoloi, president of the Samiti, and conducted by Manomati Kurmi, Principal Secretary.
Baruah, who is also a social activist, newly elected secretary of Baan Theatre, and president of Akonir Sahitya Sabha, was honoured with a gamosa, eri shawl, memento, xorai, citation, a bundle of books and a cash award.
