Several Areas Of West Karbi Anglong Inundated

DONGKAMUKAM, Aug 23: A sudden flood has inundated West Karbi Anglong following torrential early morning showers across the district. The rainwater rushed downstream from the hills flooding low lying areas.

Dongka River overflowed its banks and flooded Dongkamukam Town submerging several wards. Families could not even get time to save their belongings. Some families were seen with their household goods on the street fleeing to safer places.

Due to knee-high water, communication was snapped for several hours in Dongkamukam town. The flooded areas are Borthoiso, Borthol, Tengkeralangso, Doloni, Dongkamukam-Kheroni road, Telehor, Jengkha etc. The rainwater also washed away paddy plantations of hundreds of hectares.

No casualties were reported.
