Several Motorcycles Including Cop’s Stolen In Jorhat, One Found

JORHAT, June 3: Police on Friday recovered one out of a several motorcycles which had been reported stolen in the past three days in Jorhat.

A police source said that the motorcycle which had been reported to be stolen from Lahoty petrol depot where it had been parked for the night, was found by residents, dumped a short distance away from the depot in the Garmur road. The residents informed the police who handed over the motorcycle to the owner.

Three motorcycles lifted on Wednesday from three different areas of Jorhat with one bike belonging to a cop that was reportedly stolen from the parking area meant for staff in front of Jorhat SP’s official residence are yet to be found.

According to a source, Sanjib Bora, a constable, had parked his Pulsar motorcycle (bearing registration number AS-03-L-6191) at the area in front of the SP’s residence where staff posted at the residence park their vehicles.

After finishing his job at the residence Bora found his bike missing and inquired about the two-wheeler. The source stated that not being able to find out the bike Bora lodged an FIR at Jorhat Police Station in this regard and a case (Number: 548/2022) was registered under Section 379 at the police station. The search for the motorbike was on.

Later in the evening on the same day, another motorcycle (Apache RTR 160) – owned by Raktim Ranjan Sarmah of Tarajan Puja Mandir area – who parked it in front of a house he was visiting at Mazgaon Borbheta under Lichubari Police Outpost, found the vehicle missing after coming out, the source said.

On the same day another motorbike (Pulsar 150) belonging to Abdul Majid of Kumar Khatowal village of Kakojan outskirts here, was reportedly stolen from a flour mill compound at Hatigarh under Bhogdoi Police Outpost, the source said, adding that the search for the bikes were on.
