Sitala puja concludes

DIPHU, April 12: Sitalabari Executive Committee celebrated Shree Shree Sitala puja with a five day religious affair started on April 8 and concluded on Saturday at Sitlabari in Diphu market. From Saturday morning a large number of devotees thronged to the mandir to participate in the religious festivity to seek blessings from goddess Sitala. As the devotees offered puja to goddess Sitala, the priest and temple assistance distributed maha prasad from the offerings of goddess Sitala.

The Sitalabari Executive Committee secretary, Rajib Chakraborty stated that for the last 66 years the Sitala puja has been celebrated under the patronage of Sitalabari Executive Committee. During the five day religious festivity activities like puja archana, evening kirtan with all communities such as Lokhimon Sangh, Gorkha kirtan, Assamese naam kirtan and Bengali kirtan were taken up. In the evening cultural programmees were being held, Chakraborty informed.

On the concluding day today thousands of devotees have come to participate in the puja to seek blessings from goddess Sitala. Maha prasads of goddess Sitala were distributed among the devotees, he informed.
