Sivasagar district administration gears up for April 9

SIVASAGAR, Mar 17: Sivasagar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav on Tuesday addressed the media on administration’s preparations for the forthcoming elections in the district. He said that over 5000 poll personnel have been trained up so far to conduct the poll smoothly in 741 polling stations for the one-phase elections in the state. Of these, 278 polling stations are in Sivasagar assembly constituency, 230 in Demow assembly constituency and 233  are in Nazira assembly constituency.

There will be a total of 150 women’s polling stations in the district.

 Aditya Neog , Election Officer ( I/c) said that some new rules have been introduced for the upcoming Assembly elections.  The Media Monitoring and Certification Cell has been pressed into service besides the Mobile Vigilant teams in the district to monitor the codes of conduct by all political parties and candidates.

Postering on private premises will be allowed only after due permission of the owner. He added that poll officials will have a target of 1,200 voters at each polling station. The Returning Officer for 96 Sivasagar LAC Meenakshi Perme, the Returning Officer for 95 Demow LAC Satish Chandra Thakuria and the Returning Officer for 97 Nazira LAC Pabitra Kumar Das were also present in the meeting.
