DEMOW, June 27: In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Sivasagar district police and Simaluguri GRP joined forces to dispose of narcotics worth Rs 71 lakhs. The disposal took place in the incinerator room located at Siu-Ka-Pha Multi Speciality Hospital in Desang Rajabari near Demow on Monday. The event was attended by Subra Jyoti Borah, SP of Sivasagar district, along with other police officials and hospital representatives.
Police sources revealed that a total of 900 grams of brown sugar, 19 kilograms of ganja, and nearly 3000 tablets were safely destroyed within the incinerator room. The collaboration between law enforcement and Siu-Ka-Pha Multi Speciality Hospital played a vital role in facilitating the secure incineration process.
Expressing gratitude, SP Subra Jyoti Borah thanked all the individuals involved for their cooperation. He also extended his appreciation to the senior officers and management of Siu-Ka-Pha Multi Speciality Hospital for their invaluable assistance in the disposal initiative.
