KOKRAJHAR, Nov 12: A brief moment of panic gripped the Kokrajhar Mini Press Club on Wednesday after a large venomous snake was spotted inside the premises.
Members of the club immediately alerted local authorities, following which noted snake expert Anup Sarkar arrived at the scene and safely rescued the reptile.
Exhibiting calm professionalism, Sarkar captured and removed the snake without causing harm to anyone or the animal, preventing a potential mishap and restoring normalcy at the site.
A resident of Santinagar Ward No 1, Sarkar has been working as a snake rescue specialist for the past 12 years.
He has rescued hundreds of snakes—many of them highly venomous—from Kokrajhar town and nearby areas.
Associated with the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), Sarkar has been actively promoting awareness on snake conservation and ecological balance.
He regularly undertakes rescue operations in residential areas and later releases the snakes into safe habitats such as Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary and other protected forest zones.
Known for his dedication and compassion, Sarkar has earned wide respect for his efforts in wildlife conservation and continues to inspire others to coexist peacefully with nature’s creatures.
