BOKAJAN, Nov 23: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) condemned the incident at Mukroh along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Tuesday.
In a press conference held at Bokajan by AJYCP, Karbi Anglong, the president Jitu Phukon said it is unfortunate that one forest department employee, Bidya Sing Lekthe, lost his life.
Phukon said, “Such incident repeating itself at the Assam Meghalaya border is surprising. The BJP led Centre’s Union home minister Amit Shah, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council have been repeating that there is peace in the state. Now, they are even unable to protect the border.”
He said a solution to the border problems should be found. An ex-gratia should be given to the next of kin of late Bidya Sing Lekthe, Phukon stated.
All ongoing border disputes including with Meghalaya, Arunachal and Nagaland should be solved. The BJP should not play politics with it, the Karbi Anglong AJYCP president reiterated.
AJYCP advisor Horen Engti was also present at the press conference.
