Sonitpur unveils ‘Ganabandhu’ mascot to boost voter awareness

TEZPUR, March 20: The District Election Officer of Sonitpur, Ananda Kumar Das, unveiled the official District Election Mascot “Ganabandhu” (Brahmaputra river dolphin) for the Assembly Elections 2026 and inaugurated a selfie point within the premises of the District Commissioner’s Office, Sonitpur, as part of ongoing SVEEP activities aimed at enhancing voter awareness.

The event was attended by SVEEP Cell In-charge ADC Kuldip Hazarika, along with other assisting officers of the cell and officials of the district administration.

On the occasion, two PwD voters were felicitated with “fulam gamusa” by the DC-cum-DEO in recognition of their participation in the democratic process. Further, around 12 e-rickshaws displaying voter awareness pamphlets were flagged off from the DC office premises to disseminate awareness messages across the district.
