SOS Children’s Village celebrates Safety and Security Week

HOJAI, Jan 9: SOS Children’s Village Hojai conducted a Safety and Security Week from January 1 to 7, 2025.

The week concluded on Wednesday with an awareness program organised in collaboration with the 68th Battalion, SSB and Hojai District Police.

The event focused on various topics related to safety and security, including First Aid, providing CPR, steps during Snake Bites, Road Signs and road safety, Traffic Signals, the importance of saying no to child marriage, and the dangers of drugs.

Dr. Hansraj Rajput, deputy commandant (68 Battalion SSB), conducted the session on CPR and First Aid, tips to save a person after snake bites, providing valuable insights on life-saving techniques.

Bishal Debnath, motor vehicle inspector of Hojai, led a session on Road Signs and Traffic Signals, emphasising their importance for road safety.

He further urged the children to become “Chota Cop.”

Nirmali Barman, deputy superintendent of police, Hojai, addressed the issues of child marriage, encouraging the audience to say no to such social evils and drugs menace.

Rupam Bordoloi, additional deputy superintendent of police (HQ), Hojai, led a session on the harmful effects of drugs and urged the youth to stay away from substance abuse.

Amar Jyoti Sarmah, state director of SOS Children’s Village led the session, ensuring that the participants received valuable knowledge on the various aspects of safety and security.

The awareness program began with a warm welcome to the guests and was followed by a cultural activity, highlighting the significance of safety and security.

A total of 120 children and youth from SOS Children’s Village Hojai and the Family Strengthening Program (FSP) participated in the event.

Rupam Bordoloi, additional superintendent of police, (HQ) Hojai; Dr. Hansraj Rajput, deputy commandant (68 Battalion SSB); and Nirmali Barman, deputy superintendent of police, Hojai.

List of special guests included inspector Rajendra Prasad (68 Battalion SSB), Bishal Debnath (motor vehicle inspector of Hojai), and Dandadhar Choudhury (officer in-charge, Hojai Police) besides many other distinguished guests.
