SSB’s 31st Battalion celebrates 21st Raising Day at Gossaigaon

KOKRAJHAR, Nov 12: The 31st Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Gossaigaon, celebrated its 21st Raising Day with enthusiasm and dignity at its headquarters in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.

The event, held under the guidance of Commandant Amit Singh, was attended by officers, subordinate staff, personnel, and family members of the battalion.

The celebration began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Martyrs’ Memorial, where tributes were paid to the brave martyrs.

Family members of the martyrs and SSB personnel attended the solemn event.

Commandant Amit Singh extended greetings to all members of the force and highlighted the battalion’s history, achievements, and unwavering commitment to national security.

In the evening, a grand cultural programme added colour to the occasion.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a welcome song, followed by cultural performances presented by SSB personnel, family members, members of Sandiksha (Mahila Samiti), and participants from local NGOs and schools.

The programme featured patriotic songs, folk and group dances, poetry recitations, skits, and comedy acts.

Folk performances in Assamese, Bhojpuri, Nepali, and Hindi showcased the cultural diversity of India and received wide appreciation from the audience.

The event was graced by Deputy Inspector General Amit Kumar Thakur, Frontier Headquarters, Bongaigaon, as the chief guest, along with several other distinguished guests.

In his address, Thakur congratulated the battalion members and praised the performers, stating that such programmes promote unity, enthusiasm, and cultural harmony within the force.

Outstanding performers were later felicitated, and the celebration concluded with a Bada Khana, where officers, personnel, family members, and NGO representatives dined together, reinforcing the spirit of camaraderie and community.
