State pays tribute to Bhupen Hazarika on 14th death anniversary

Guwahati, Nov 05:Assam observed the 14th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika today with events and tributes held across the State. The day began with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma offering floral homage at Dr Bhupen Hazarika Samannay Kshetra in Jalukbari at 8:30 AM.

Following the tribute, the Chief Minister addressed a media briefing. Later, the Central Shraddhanjali Anusthan at Latasil Playground brought together cultural groups, students and admirers to remember the life and work of the “Sudhakantha.”

Across districts, community organisations and educational institutions organised musical performances, screenings and discussions on Hazarika’s legacy. His compositions and message of unity continue to shape Assam’s cultural identity more than a decade after his passing.
