NAGAON, April 6: SI Suruzul Haque of Nagaon PS was caught red handed at his official quarter in Nagaon police reserve by a team from Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption, Guwahati, on Wednesday night while accepting bribe of Rs 3,000 from a complainant.
Sources have claimed that the arrested SI demanded a sum of Rs 25,000 from the complainant for releasing him from an old pending criminal case registered in the police station.
Meanwhile unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached to the officials of the state investigation agency in Guwahati. The officials of the agency laid a trap accordingly on Wednesday evening at his official residence in Nagaon police officers’ club inside the Nagaon police reserve and finally got the breakthrough, sources said.
Adding further, the complainant was asked to meet him at his official residence situated at police officers’ club.
When Haque accepted the bribe of Rs 3,000 from the complainant, the team from the vigilance and anti corruption caught him red handed.
The squad from vigilance and anti corruption immediately recovered the tainted bribe money from his possession. Eventually, a case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is on, sources further added.
