TEZPUR, May 26: A proactive effort unfolded as Tezpur Cancer Centre orchestrated a dedicated breast cancer screening and awareness session for Women Police on Saturday at Tezpur Police Reserve.
Madhurima Das, additional SP, and Mausumi Kalita, additional SP Crime, Sonitpur, alongside Lt Col Dr Sanjib Hazarika (Retd), medical superintendent, and Dr Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, senior consultant radiation oncologist, joined by Dr Krishnapriya Banerjee, and other dedicated staff from Tezpur Cancer Centre graced the event with their presence.
The program commenced with an inaugural address by Madhurima Das, additional SP, Sonitpur, followed by Dr Sanjib Hazarika, medical superintendent at Tezpur Cancer Centre, shedding light on the noble mission of the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) and the overarching goals of Tezpur Cancer Centre.
Dr Sanjeev Kumar Gupta elaborated on the prevailing landscape of breast cancer in the north-eastern region and across the nation, emphasising the pivotal role of screening and early detection. He elucidated various screening methods and treatment modalities available for breast cancer.
Dr Krishna Priya Banerjee further underscored the significance of recognising risk factors and symptoms of breast cancer among women police officers. A total of 72 women police officers actively participated in the session, with 62 undergoing crucial breast cancer screening.
