TEZPUR, Sept 9: Tezpur University recently organised an engaging quiz competition with a G-20 theme,
aligning with the ongoing G-20 summit taking place in Delhi. The event witnessed a vibrant participation
of over 250 students who took part in the initial screening test. Following this, the final round featured
six teams that had been selected based on their performance in a preliminary round of questions.
The program was inaugurated by Prof Shambhu Nath Singh, the Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University. In
his opening remarks, he highlighted the significance of India’s presidency in the G-20, emphasising that
this role is a source of national pride. He also alluded to the potential expansion of the organisation,
with the African Union poised to join its ranks, which would further broaden the G-20’s scope. Prof
Singh expressed optimism that, under India’s leadership, the G-20 would reach new heights in terms of
all-encompassing development.
The quiz contest, led by Prof Tridib Ranjan Sarma from the Department of Business Administration,
covered a wide range of topics. Questions encompassed aspects of India’s art, culture, politics, and
general G-20 issues, creating an engaging and informative experience for participants.
The quiz competition consisted of four rounds, each offering exciting and thought-provoking questions.
In addition to the participating teams, there was active audience engagement with questions designed
to challenge their knowledge.
The event was organised by the National Service Scheme of Tezpur University, with Prof Amiya Kumar
Das from the Sociology Department serving as its Coordinator. Dr Biren Das, the university’s Registrar,
also attended the event to show his support.
To recognise the participants’ efforts and achievements, three prizes were awarded to the top-
performing teams, along with two consolation prizes.
It’s important to note that this year marked the 18th G-20 summit, being held at the Bharat Mandapam
Convention Centre in Pragati Maidan, Delhi. The summit is featuring various sessions focusing on
themes such as “One Earth, One Family”, among others.
Tezpur University’s quiz contest provided an opportunity for students to engage with the G-20 summit’s
themes and issues, fostering an environment of learning and awareness about global affairs.
