Three Drug Peddlers Arrested with Vehicle in Tezpur

Tezpur police reportedly arrested three youths for allegedly transporting narcotic substances near the Shaloni Bari area. The suspects were caught after trying to flee a police checkpoint.

GUWAHATI, Nov 6: Tezpur police arrested three youths for allegedly supplying drugs after they tried to flee a police checkpoint on Thursday night. The incident took place near the Shaloni Bari area, where police had set up a naka check based on a tip-off.

According to sources, police received information that a vehicle was transporting drugs from Balipara towards Tezpur. Acting on the input, Shaloni Bari police laid a checkpoint near the outpost. When the suspects attempted to speed through the checkpoint, police chased them down and intercepted the vehicle, leading to their arrest.

The arrested individuals have been identified as brothers Raktim Sharma and Aarav Sharma from Polo Field Bamun Gaon, Tezpur, and Biki Chakravarty from Lalmatia, Tezpur. During the search, police recovered five containers suspected to contain narcotic substances from the vehicle.

The accused are currently being questioned, and police have launched an investigation to trace the source and route of the drug supply.
