Three-month-old infant dies, two injured in fire at Kaliabor

NAGAON, Jan 6: A devastating fire broke out at the residence of Rajab Ali and Matiur Rahman at Borghuli under Uluwani Police Station in Kaliabor area of Nagaon district on Tuesday, claiming the life of a three-month-old infant and leaving two others injured.

The fire reportedly originated in the kitchen and quickly spread, engulfing two residential houses.

The injured have been identified as Rakibul Hussain (3) and Nazima Khatun (26), who are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

Both houses were completely gutted in the blaze, with losses estimated to run into several lakh rupees, including cash and important documents.

Upon receiving information, police personnel from Uluwani Police Station and Sulong Police Outpost rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.

Firefighters from Ambagan and Kaliabor fire stations managed to bring the fire under control after sustained efforts. The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the locality, with residents mourning the loss of the infant and expressing concern over the sudden blaze.
