DIPHU: Staff of Central Forest Range of West Division seized smuggled timbers from Matipung District Council Reserve Forest (DCRF) on Tuesday.

Range officer of Central Forest Range, Babu Rongpi said that on receiving specific information about smuggling timbers in Matipung DCRF, the patrolling team reached the place and seized the smuggled timbers and the vehicle used by the timber smugglers. On seeing the forest patrolling team, the driver and another person fled from the spot. The seized timbers and vehicle have been brought to the Central Forest Range.

The smuggled timbers will be of 5 cft and the market value is around Rs 20,000. The timbers are of local species, the range officer informed.
