KOKRAJHAR, Aug 1: The “Historic March to Delhi” led by Tipra Motha leader David Murasing and his 12-member team reached Kokrajhar on July 30 as part of their 2,500-km foot-march from Agartala to New Delhi, aimed at highlighting the issue of infiltration in Tripura.
The march, which began on July 5, resumed from Kokrajhar the following day after a warm reception was accorded to the team by Kokrajhar East MLA Lawrence Islary at his office.

Several prominent leaders from Tripura, including former cabinet minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia, MLA Nandita Debbarma, TIPRA Women Federation president Manihar Debbarma, and general secretary Gita Debbarma, joined the march in Kokrajhar in a show of solidarity.
The foot-march seeks to draw national attention to alleged illegal infiltration in Tripura and its impact on the indigenous Tiprasa community.
The leaders have called for stringent measures by the Central Government to curb infiltration and ensure constitutional safeguards for the community.
Speaking during the event, David Murasing said infiltration was not only a demographic challenge but also a serious security threat, and must be addressed with an “iron hand”.
The marchers aim to reach Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, where they plan to submit a memorandum signed in blood to the central government, demanding justice, constitutional protection, and urgent action against infiltration.
