KHERONI, May 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) West Karbi Anglong District Committee organised a Tiranga Yatra in Hamren on Monday as part of a nationwide campaign commemorating “Operation Sindoor.”
Participants carrying the national flag marched from Sai-Ali to New Market in Hamren, led by Dr Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
He was joined by Member of Parliament Amarsing Tisso, MLAs Rupsing Teron (Baithalangso) and Bidya Sing Engleng (Diphu), and Radip Ronghang, President of the BJP West Karbi Anglong District Committee.
The yatra also saw participation from Executive Members, MAC Headsing Rongphar, Pritom Rongpi, BJP General Secretary Krishna Sharma, senior leader of Hamren, Mandal Committee office bearers, and party workers.
The procession was held in alignment with the BJP’s nationwide 11-day Tiranga Yatra, launched on May 12, to celebrate the Indian armed forces’ role in Operation Sindoor.
The operation was a military response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
According to a senior BJP leader, the campaign aims to raise awareness about the strategic importance of the operation and to reinforce national unity and pride.
The yatra, set to conclude on May 23, seeks to bring together ex-servicemen, community leaders, and citizens in a collective expression of patriotism.
