DIBRUGARH, Nov 21: In a heart-wrenching incident, two students from Lahowal College lost their lives in a tragic accident near Bokul, 5 km from Dibrugarh. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a speeding KTM bike carrying three final-year Higher Secondary students lost control and collided with a metallic road sign post.

The victims, identified as Abhijit Baruah and Ridip Chetia, succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the third student, Akash Deep Baruah, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Assam Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported that the cause of the accident was attributed to triple riding and over-speeding. The accident has cast a pall of sorrow in the area, impacting the students and teachers of Lahowal College.

Local residents expressed concern about the trend of over-speeding by youngsters, emphasizing the need for the traffic department to address the issue more effectively. They pointed out that negligence in enforcing traffic regulations has contributed to such incidents.
