NAGAON, May 10: As part of preparedness for the ensuing monsoon season and probable flood situation, the District Disaster Management Authority, Nagaon in association with Assam State Disaster Management Authority, organised a two-day training cum workshop on child and women care in relief camps and other temporary shelters during emergencies at the conference hall of Nagaon Zilla Parishad here from Wednesday.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Debahuti Bora, ADC and CEO to DDMA, Nagaon.
Over 50 Anganwadi workers under the Social Welfare department from various ICDS projects of the district will primarily focus on providing training regarding specialised care and necessary steps, arrangements and precaution to be taken for women and children in relief camps and other temporary shelters during emergencies with special thrust on flood situations.
S R Mahanta, Bhupen Bhattacharya from the Social Welfare department and Bijayanta Goswami, DPO, DDMA, Nagaon participated in the programme as resource persons. S R Mahanta sensitised the participants on women and child centric emergency & preparedness and looking relief work from a gendered lens including menstrual facilities, facilities for lactating mother, pregnant women, continuation of regular or routine life while Bhupen Bhattacharya, CDPO, Social Welfare department enlightened the participants regarding tackling of disaster, malnutrition and the role of ICDS in combating malnutrition.
Meanwhile, Bijayanta Goswami, DPO, DDMA, Nagaon provided inputs on the process and implementation of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and State Disaster Mitigation Funds (SDMFs), an official release added this afternoon here.
