KOKRAJHAR, July 3: The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kokrajhar, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), conducted a training programme for Child Marriage Prohibition Officers (CMPOs) at the Kokrajhar and Dotma Revenue Circle Offices on Thursday.
The training focused primarily on Lot Mandals designated as CMPOs, equipping them with detailed knowledge of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The sessions also clarified their roles and responsibilities in addressing and preventing child marriages.
Officials from the DCPU and legal experts from the DLSA led the interactive sessions, offering practical guidance and encouraging active participation.
The initiative aimed to reinforce grassroots enforcement mechanisms and enable prompt responses to offences involving children.
The training forms part of a wider campaign to bolster child protection systems and foster a child-friendly, law-abiding environment across the district. Participants expressed their appreciation for the programme, noting its relevance in enhancing public awareness of child protection.
