DIPHU, Oct 8: Langmili Black Day Observance Committee observed the 17th Black Day to pay tribute to those who died in Langmili area during an ethnic clash in 2005.

17 persons died in that unfortunate incident. The Black Day was observed on the premises of Langmili LP School on Saturday.
During the observation the family members and relatives of the deceased lit candles and offered flowers on the portraits of the victims.
President of the observation committee, Bijoy Kro said that every year the villagers of Longmili keep in mind to remember those who died when attackers entered the village. The attackers did not spare even the infants which included a 5-month-old baby.
Kro said, “There are 500 families, but due to the clash we shifted to Chirikangnep. As we have to start life afresh and we are pushed back. We urge the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council to support us to take up economic activities.”
On October 8, 2005 during the infamous ethnic clash in Karbi Anglong, 17 innocent people from the Langmili area lost their lives when attackers entered the village.
The programme was attended by secretary, observation committee, Rahul Hanse; Gaon bura Unil Enghi and Rajen killing; SGB Dhonsing Terang and leaders of KSYC and Karbi Students Association of Langmili.
