SIVASAGAR, Sept 7: Karnataka Police, with the help of Sivasagar Police on Thursday night, arrested two cyber criminals on the basis of an FIR from a reputed Doctor in Karnataka against the duo for fraudulently withdrawing huge amount of money from his account. One Jakir Alam Bora of Dhailai (38) and a teacher Pawan Borpatra Gohain (58) of Panbessa, allegedly withdrew Rs 1 Cr 28 lakh from the Doctor’s account through unauthorized phishing wares.
Karnataka Police swung into action with the help of the latest technology and detected their locations. According to sources, Jakir Alam Bora had a close connection with a racket of cyber criminals of Nagaon who duped a section of easy-money-seekers into accessing their bank accounts. Pawan Borpatra Goghain was one such person into whose account the money from the Doctor was transferred recently. Jakir Alam’s team later re-transferred the amount into several other accounts after leaving a good amount for the teacher. Karnataka Police took the two criminals into their custody and left for Bengaluru from Dibrugarh airport on Friday.
