Two-Day ‘Sahitya Sanskriti Aru Sampriti – 2022’ Ends

DIPHU, April 10: A two-day cultural and literary meet ‘Sahitya Sanskriti Aru Sampriti – 2022’ has concluded here at Joysing Doloi Auditorium on Sunday with dances by different ethnic groups and communities. The two days cultural and literary meet was jointly organised by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Asam Sahitya Sabha (ASS) and Karbi Cultural Society (KCS).

The concluding day witnessed the hosting of multi-language poem recitation, where 21 persons recited their poems. The poems were recited in Assamese, Karbi, Dimasa, Bodo, Tiwa and Bengali.

Among them were Juli Boruah – ‘Ghoror Hondhanot’, Kadom Bini Terangpi- ‘Longri Apharman’, Longbir Terang – ‘Ne Karbi Alam si Kaningje’, Helvelyn Timungpi – ‘Thengso Keman a sengve’, Anita Maibangsha – ‘Graujisia’, Budhesor Sagra – ‘Nowo Projanmo’ and others.

Inaugurating the poet’s meet Padmashree Dhaneswar Engti said Karbis are sons of Hemphu Mukrang. Kala guru Bishnu Prasad Rabha has rightly called Karbis the Columbus of Assam as they have first stepped foot in Assam.

He said the Karbis have rich culture and tradition and one of them is Chomangkan, a ritual for the deaths. There is also nimso kerung performed by young Karbi boys and girls during Chomangkan. The Karbis could still retain its age-old tradition.

Winding up poet meet the moderator Sar-et Hanse said the poets who have participated have presented their beautiful poems. He expressed thanks to the organisers KAAC, ASS and KCS.

Editor-in-chief of Prag News Channel, Prasanto Raj Guru and president of Asam Sahitya Sabha Dr. Kuladhar Saikia also attended the poet’s meet.

President of the Reception Committee MLA Bidyasing Engleng on behalf of the organiser thanked the participants and cultural troupes. He commented that the event has allowed various ethnic tribes and communities to showcase their culture and tradition and thereby building up communal harmony through culture, language and literature.

He thanked the president of ASS, Dr. Kuladhar Saikia, Karbi Anglong Sahitya Sabha and Diphu Sahitya Sabha.

In the evening Bihu dance, Bengali traditional dance, Adivasi dance, Nepali dance, Manipuri dance and Mech Kachari dance were presented. DC of Karbi Anglong, IAS, Dibakar Nath inaugurated the dance programme.
