Two Forest Officials Slapped Show-Cause Notices

DIPHU, Sept 18: Two forest officials have been issued show-cause notices by DFO, Karbi Anglong East Division for allegedly collecting huge sums of money from sand laden trucks and harassing the business people.

The forest officials who received show-cause notices are Renuka Terangpi, forester – I, in-charge Sub-Beat Office, Langmili under Central Range, Manja and ACF, Bikram Singh Rongpi, in-charge Central Range, Manja.

It has been alleged that after taking a huge amount by ACF, Rongpi has directed the sand laden truck to unload at his residence. The sand mahalders also alleged that after paying royalty to the Forest department and having Transit Pass (TP) and challans, he had offered money at forest check gates and at various points.

Most of the sand from Karbi Anglong goes to Dimapur, Nagaland. The sand mahalders have to clear all check points before reaching Dimapur, the sand mahalders alleged.

The show-cause notices issued to the two forest officials on September 16 directed the duo to submit their responses by September 22.
