Two women held with drugs at Margherita railway station

Margherita, Nov 11: Margherita police, acting on a tip off, launched an operation at Margherita railway station and apprehended two women with illegal drugs and opium who were travelling through intercity express from Guwahati to Ledo on Friday morning.
The two women were searched by Margherita police and found drugs and opium stitched inside the petticoat of their clothes.
The police also recovered 5 kg opium and 116.99 grams of drugs from their possession.
The apprehended drugs peddler has been identified as Babita Saikia and N Ingsa Singh. Both were arrested and the seized items were brought to Margherita police station.
“A case has been registered under NDPS at Margherita police station and both the women drug peddler and the man were sent to judicial custody,” said Pratap Gogoi, officer in-charge of Margherita police station.
