Union minister of State reviews Darrang aspirational district project

MANGALDAI, May 3: The Union MoS for Cooperation and DoNER, B L Verma while interacting with the media persons at Mangaldai Circuit House on Tuesday has observed that all development schemes to achieve the desired goals. The minister was on a visit to Darrang Aspirational district where he reviewed the status of Aspirational District project at Darrang DC office conference hall.
Hailing the district administration for achieving improvements in several key indicators barring rural housing and few others, the Union MoS said that all development schemes must be implemented in the district expeditiously. All sections in the society would be benefited with time-bound and proper implementation of the schemes, he said. Verma also directed to focus on the low performing sectors.
The Aspirational District project seeks to bring holistic development while encouraging competition among districts through monthly delta ranking in 49 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) under 5 broad socio-economic themes – Health & Nutrition, Education, Agriculture & Water Resources, Financial Inclusion & Skill Development and Infrastructure.
Mangaldai MP Dilip Saikia, Sipajhar MLA Dr Paramananda Rajbangshi, Darrang deputy commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarmah, several senior officers and district heads of various departments were present in the meeting.
The Union MoS made a visit to the recently inaugurated Darrang Cancer Centre and the Mangaldai Stadium. He also had a meeting with the rank and file of the ruling BJP here at its party office during his visit.
