Praising Dutta’s contributions, Margherita said she has taken Assam’s traditional textile industry to the global stage and highlighted that the world is now turning towards handloom and handcrafted products, where Assam holds a unique place.

During his address, the minister strongly criticised the Congress party for allegedly politicising the recent death of singer Zubeen Garg. He termed the move inappropriate and urged the party to respect public sentiment. “They can criticise our politics, but using Zubeen Garg’s name for political mileage is not acceptable,” he said.

Sanjukta Dutta expressed gratitude to the people of Nagaon and said she was excited to open a studio in her hometown. The centre will promote and sell Assamese handicrafts and handloom textiles, many of which are her own designs.

The event was attended by local dignitaries, including MLA Rupak Sarma, officials from the Assam Tourism Department and a tourist from Manchester who praised Dutta’s work.
