Tezpur, Nov 01: Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a unity march was held in Tezpur today under the initiative of Mera Bharat, organised by the Government of India. The event was coordinated by the Sonitpur District Administration and District Sports Department.
The march began from Tezpur Church Field, the cultural heart of the Sonitpur Lok Sabha constituency, with the slogan Ek Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat resonating through the streets. Tezpur MP Ranjit Dutta and Tezpur MLA Prithviraj Rabha officially flagged off the march, which witnessed participation from Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner Anand Kumar Das, MTRO Vice-Chairperson Ritu Baran Sharma, Sonitpur District BJP President Madhusmita Hazarika Deka, SSB personnel, police officials, NCC cadets, and students representing various schools of Tezpur.
Adding a touch of patriotic spirit, a cultural troupe from the Assam Government’s Cultural Affairs Department performed a vibrant patriotic dance at Triveni Chariali during the procession, drawing cheers from the gathered crowd.
Before the commencement of the march, MP Ranjit Dutta and Deputy Commissioner Anand Kumar Das planted saplings at Tezpur Church Field, symbolising growth and unity.
Speaking at the event, MP Ranjit Dutta said, “Sardar Patel’s vision of a united India continues to inspire us. This march is not just a tribute but a reminder that our nation’s strength lies in unity and self-reliance.”
The event brought together people from all walks of life, echoing Patel’s message of national integration and collective progress.
