GUWAHATI, Aug 11: A two-day workshop on ‘Writing Historical Fiction’ was organised by LitSoc IIT Guwahati in collaboration with WissenMonk. The workshop was delivered by one of Assam’s bestselling authors, Nilutpal Gohain who has two historical fiction books to his name, The Legend of Lachit Borphukan and The Rajkhowa Murders, both based on historical events of Assam.
This workshop was aimed to imbibe knowledge on ‘Writing Historical Fiction’ while focusing on methods to carry out subject studies, research, and preparing story plots. The workshop, exclusive to IITG students, was held in IIT Guwahati’s conference hall on August 6 and 7.
The workshop was attended by about 50 literary enthusiast students of IITG. They tried their best to pick the brains of the experienced author by posing different questions to him and coming up with their own plots and ideas to read out and get feedback from the lecturer. The two-day workshop ended with the lecturer and the literary society (Lit-Soc) members of IITG sitting together for lunch on Sunday afternoon discussing literature and engineering over an informal interaction.
