GUWAHATI, May 28: Guwahati branch of ICAI organised a full day workshop on practical case studies on important current issues, solutions and way forward on Saturday at ICAI Bhawan. The topics on which case studies were discussed by eminent speakers and panellists were real estate sector, registration, suspension, cancellation and revocation of GSTIN, government contracts, and intelligence and investigations in GST.
CA (Dr) Ayush Saraf, chairman of the Guwahati branch gave the welcome address and also chaired the panel discussion at the workshop. CA Vikash Kumar Banka from Kolkata dealt with real estate sector related issues whereas CA Omprakash Agarwalla from Guwahati discussed case studies relating to registration, suspension, cancellation and revocation of GSTIN and dealt with way forward on select issues. CA Saurabh Choudhury, vice chairman and CA Anjani Kumar Mundhra, treasurer co-ordinated the first session.
CA Navya Malhotra from Delhi was panellist at panel discussion for issues, solutions and way forward relating to government contracts including rate change aspects, time of supply and TDS on government contracts whereas, Dharam Veer Singh, deputy director DGGI, Guwahati zone was panellist on intelligence-based investigations and dealt with taxpayer and departmental perspective with select illustrations of real-life cases. CA Raginee Goyal, secretary of the Guwahati branch moderated the panel discussion and the open house question and answer session at the end of the workshop.
About 100 chartered accountants including managing committee members of the branch and senior members participated in the workshop. The delegates also had the opportunity of networking and informal brainstorming with the eminent speakers and panellists over lunch, said a press release, issued by CA Raginee Goyal, secretary of the Guwahati branch.
