Y20 talks promote youth engagement and sustainable living at Haflong Govt College

Haflong, July 13: A one-day program of Y20 talks was organised at Haflong Government College, initiated by the Sports and Youth Welfare department. The event saw the presence of Nandita Gorlosa, Assam minister for Sports & Youth Welfare, as the chief guest, along with Anmol Soviet, chairperson of Y20 India, and other distinguished guests.

Addressing the audience, Gorlosa emphasised the significance of such programs in articulating the role of youth in promoting sustainable ways of life within the G20 summit. She encouraged and empowered the youth to raise awareness about the Y20 summit and highlighted the opportunities in sports careers, particularly in the Dima Hasao district. Gorlosa applauded the achievements of several sports personalities and stressed the importance of sports participation for young boys and girls to discover their potential and thrive.

Renowned motivational speaker Diganta Biswas Sarma delivered a speech on ‘The Secret of Eternal Youth’, while research scholar Kapil Kemprai spoke on ‘Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life’. The presentations were widely appreciated and well-received by the youth, sports fraternity, students, teachers, and NGOs in attendance.

As part of the event, young achievers who brought honour to the district in various sports and adventure activities were felicitated with prizes and certificates. The participation of school students and teachers from various educational institutions added to the success of the program.

The event was also graced by Devnit Chaudhuri, Y20 delegate, Gitartha Goswami, member secretary of the State Level Advisory Committee for Students & Youth Welfare, and Anmol Soviet, Y20 India Chair. Motivational speaker Diganta Biswa Sarma serves as the convener of the Assamese Advisory Board at Sahitya Akademi. Notable attendees included Mayank Kumar, IPS, superintendent of police, Deepmala Goala, ACS, additional deputy commissioner, and members of the general public and media.
