Youth injured in police firing in Jorhat

JORHAT, May 7: A youth has been injured after he had been reportedly shot by the police in Jorhat.

The injured youth has been identified as Kusha Kutum of Randhanijan village on the outskirts of Jorhat. Kutum had been wanted in a water pump theft case and was injured when police personnel reportedly shot him while apprehending him on Monday.

According to sources, Kutum was fired upon by a police team that had gone to nab him from his house at Randhanijan after he allegedly tried to flee. He sustained in jury on the upper part of hisbody and was admitted to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday Kutum was shifted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh for advanced medical treatment.
