DIBRUGARH, May 11: A health camp was successfully organised by Zaloni Ladies Club under Project Nightingale on Sunday at 44 No Hatiali Deharang LP School near Kothaloni OCS with the objective of providing basic healthcare services, medical consultation and health awareness to the local community.
Started in the year 2002, Project Nightingale has been dedicated to providing medical aid to underprivileged communities living in remote Oil India Limited (OIL) operational areas where healthcare facilities are scarce. The initiative is undertaken by Zaloni Ladies Club in collaboration with OIL Hospital and is organised twice annually to ensure the availability of essential healthcare services for the community.
The Zaloni Ladies Club team was led by president Srutimala Bora and included advisors Susmita Bhattacharyya and Dr Leena Das, Secretary Henna Deori, members Pallabi Bhagawati and Rashmi Swargiary and Convenor Dr Pallavi B Bhattacharjya.
The camp was conducted with the support and cooperation of doctors from OIL Hospital under the leadership of Dr N K Das, Executive Director (Medical Services), OIL, along with a dedicated team of doctors and paramedical staff comprising GNM nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, dental technicians, optometrists and OPD staff members.
Services provided during the camp included consultations and check-ups in medicine, ENT, ophthalmology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and dental care. General health check-ups, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, counselling on healthy lifestyle practices, cervical cancer screening, and distribution of medicines were also carried out during the camp.
A total of 206 patients attended the camp and benefited from the healthcare services provided. In addition, 10 cervical cancer screenings were conducted and 60 food packets were distributed among children. The initiative was highly appreciated by the local community and played a significant role in promoting preventive and primary healthcare services at the grassroots level.
