GUWAHATI, April 10: In a move aimed at supporting delivery personnel across the e-commerce and logistics sectors, Amazon India has announced plans to expand its network of Ashray rest centres to 100 locations nationwide by 2025.
The Ashray centres are dedicated rest stops designed to provide delivery associates with essential amenities including air-conditioned seating, clean drinking water, electrolytes, mobile charging points, washrooms, first-aid kits, and refreshment options.
Strategically located at petrol pumps and commercial rental spaces in high footfall areas, the centres are part of Amazon’s broader effort to improve working conditions for delivery associates. Each facility can accommodate up to 15 individuals at a time and includes parking spaces for two-wheelers and other delivery vehicles. They operate daily from 9 AM to 9 PM and are accessible free of cost for up to 30 minutes per visit.
Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon in India and Australia, emphasized the importance of the initiative. “The health, wellbeing, and comfort of delivery associates is our top priority,” he said. “Opening these facilities to all delivery associates across the e-commerce and logistics ecosystem supports the entire logistics community and reflects our commitment to raising industry standards.”
Amazon described the initiative as an industry-first and noted the positive feedback received since the initial launch of the Ashray centres. With plans to reach 100 centres by next year, the company aims to provide wider access to rest and recovery spaces for the country’s growing network of delivery workers.
