GUWAHATI, May 8: Axis Bank has been conferred with the “Rotary CSR Award 2025 for Community Involvement” in the Mega Enterprise category, in recognition of its education initiative in Nagaland.
The announcement was made in an official statement issued by the Bank.
The award, presented by Rotary International District 3131, acknowledged the bank’s flagship initiative, the “Axis Dil Se – Capt Late N Kenguruse Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) Centre of Excellence” in Chieswema. The program, run in collaboration with Assam Rifles and the National Integrity and Educational Development Organization (NIEDO), aims to support meritorious students from the Northeast region through academic coaching, mentoring, and holistic support.
According to the statement, over 650 students have benefitted from the program so far, with 205 currently enrolled.
The Chieswema Centre is one of seven Centres of Excellence supported by Axis Bank in the Northeast, spanning states such as Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, and another location in Nagaland.
The initiative is a joint effort involving Axis Bank, NIEDO, and Sector Assam Rifles/IGAR (N)/DGAR under the aegis of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command.
Assam Rifles provides infrastructure and residential facilities, while NIEDO handles student outreach, selection, and training.
Speaking about the recognition, Vijay Mulbagal, Group Executive & Head – Wholesale Bank Coverage & Sustainability, Axis Bank, said the award reinforces the bank’s commitment to supporting underprivileged communities.
He described the program as “a symbol of resilience, aspiration, and opportunity” for students from the region.
Launched in 2018 in Ladakh, Axis DilSe® is one of the bank’s flagship CSR programs under the education theme, focused on bridging educational gaps in remote and underserved areas across India, including the Northeast, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh.
