GUWAHATI, April 3: The Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), welcomed the recent tariff orders dated March 29 last approved by the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC). Notably, it noted that the tariff order has resulted in a decrease in energy charges by 10p/kWh after subsuming the present Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPPA) in all categories. In contrast, the fixed charges have increased by only Rs 10/kw in all categories.
FINER had earlier raised objections to the proposed power tariff hike by Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL). The Federation had filed a petition against the proposed hike by APDCL, which included an increase of 250-300p in energy charges and an Rs 50-75 increase in fixed charges.
Hailing the AERC order, Bajrang Lohia, president – FINER said, “We thank the AERC for considering our objections and taking cognizance of the interests of all consumers, especially those who are vulnerable and least able to bear the burden of tariff hikes. We appreciate the commission’s efforts to ensure that the tariff order is fair and equitable for all consumers. We look forward to continuing our engagement with the AERC to promote the economic development of the North Eastern region.”
