Ministry Of Food Processing Industries Continues To Push Its Scheme In Assam And Mizoram

GUWAHATI, Feb 20: The centrally sponsored ‘Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme’, launched under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’, to enhance the competitiveness of existing individual micro-enterprises in the unorganized segment of the food processing industry and promote formalization of the sector, has been a grand success in different parts of India.

Till date, a total of 88881 applications submitted to the ministry which consist of both ODOP (One District One Product) and Non-ODOP’. Under this scheme micro entreprises gets Credit-Linked Subsidy at 35% of total eligible project cost with celling of Rs 10 Lakhs for upgradation of infrastructure and capacity addition. The scheme focuses on women entrepreneurs and aspirational districts. As defined in the scheme SHGs are liable to seed

capital for giving loans to members for working capital and small tools.

Under the aegis of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region — the apex industry body of northeastern region organized workshops and seminars on February 15 and 17 in Lunglei and Jorhat respectively. More than 300 members of self-help group and farmers attended the workshops in both places making it a grand success. The workshops revolved around awareness of Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises and ‘Pradhan Manti Kisan Sampada Yojna’ Schemes. These seminar primarily focuses on Agro-Processing Cluster Development of Modern Infrastructure and common facilities to encourage Group of Entrepreneurs.

The workshops were attended by representatives from national banks, Industries departments, Rural Livelihood Missions and other local industry associations. These seminars and workshops are major push to formalize the unorganized sectors by disseminating proper knowledge and handholding by the Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India, stated a press release.
