As part of the initiative, six vending machines have been installed—four at Guwahati station and two at Kamakhya station—to ensure convenient availability of hygiene products for women travellers.

The machines were inaugurated by Shalini Shrivastava, president of the NFR Women’s Welfare Organisation (NFRWWO), in the presence of NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava.

Officials said the initiative aims to enhance women’s health, dignity and comfort in public spaces.

Guwahati and Kamakhya stations are among the busiest railway hubs in the Northeast, catering to thousands of passengers daily, including pilgrims and tourists.

The project has been implemented in collaboration with Sirona and Priya Communication.

The vending machines provide a range of hygiene products at specially discounted prices for railway passengers, ensuring affordability and accessibility during travel.

NFR officials said the facility will be expanded to other stations across the Northeast in phases.

The initiative also seeks to promote awareness about menstrual hygiene and encourage open discussions on women’s health while strengthening inclusive and women-friendly public infrastructure within railway premises.
